Locally, the city/bay of Sequim is subject to some controversy.  Sequim is pronounced "squim" but should be spelled S'Kuim or S'Kwim per the local AmerIndian custom.  On the maps, however, it appears in the Anglicized version -- a fine example of our local (North American) civil chauvinism.
