I have walked with beggars,

I have dined with kings,

And all men are alike to me.

I could say that I was a child of the cyber age but the real truth is that I'm older than most computers (with the exception of Babbage's Analytic Engine) and that I did a lot to create the cyber age.  Regardless, it seems only appropriate that I should write my own obit (hopefully very prematurely but this is difficult to predict with any certainty) and that I should publish thus, on the web.  Here's a link for my conventional curricula vita (or curricula morturi, if you prefer) but, before you go there, I'd like to take this opportunity to fill in a few notes which do not appear in my "official" history.

The reason I'm choosing to do this?  I've had a couple of ... well, interruptions ... lately.  You know, the kind of gentle hint (like Caesar's slave) that whispers reminders of mortality in your ear?

So, following the principle carpe diem, I'll start recording my own obit ... or maybe it's an autobiography?  Whatever.

Of course, in the interests of fair play, I'm going to offer a link where others (hopefully friends but whomever) can offer their comments as well.

Also, please note that I take this action in emulation of one of my greatest heroes; i.e., Samuel Clements (aka Mark Twain) whose own thoughts on this subject can be found here.  (No, this is not the famous misquote.)
