Another from the Wizards of Windows
For your web site, here's an error message that appears very often when trying to display web pages at Microsoft's site. Of course usually they're less recursive than this particular example. This time it happened on http//register.microsoft.com/contactus/contactus.asp
- ===========
- |
- | Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113'
- |
- | Script timed out
- |
- | /contactus/contactus.asp
- |
- | The maximum amount of time for a script
- | to execute was exceeded. You can change
- | this limit by specifying a new value for
- | the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by
- | changing the value in the IIS
- | administration tools.

Oh indeed, I'm sure Microsoft will let me reprogram their web site to fix their problem. Does this mean there's anything wrong, misleading, or unhelpful about this error message?
How can there be, it's Microsoft standard.
Now, in order to inform Microsoft of their web site problem, guess which URL is supposed to be used.
Speakin of infinite loops, there's another Microsoft standard. Of course they're usually less visible, appearing just as hangs.

I always wonder when people ask that their names be withheld. Since these so often coincide with bloopers perpetuated by the Wizards of Windows, perhaps they fear some form of retribution? If this were really so, I'm afraid I'd be a more popular target ...
Humm, excuse me, my proximity detectors reveal someone lurking in the underbrush... One moment while I grab a couple of extra clips for my Uzi ...
...
Damn -- a waste of ammunition ... they got away ...
