Too Lazy To Take The Trash Out

When I try to delete messages in Outlook Express I sometimes get following message:

De markerede meddelelser kunne ikke slettes.

Der er ikke ikke nok plads på disken.  (In Danish)

(The selected messages could not be deleted.

There is not enough disk space...)

This is quite silly...

If I didn´t have any other things to delete, I would never be able to get more disk space...

Why does Windows 95, Outlook Express and other programs have to move the files you want to delete to other locations? Why not just delete them?
