Now What?
Came across this screen shot will doing some house keeping. My reaction to it when I first saw it in August of '98 was "Now what!" and it still is. Just another fine example of helpful programmer to user communications. ;-)

Oh, I'm sure the error message makes sense -- or made sense -- but only to the programmer who wrote it. But that's the problem, isn't it -- that programmers can't seem to understand that they have to communicate to someone besides themselves?
(Note: Please don't write to argue with the validity of my criticism -- I am a programmer and have been longer than most of you ... and my criticisms are based on long -- very long -- experience.)
