No Place To Go
Word97 recently informed me that it had detected a missing or corrupted file, and advised that I run setup to repair it. Okay.
When I tried to run setup from the hard disk I was advised that there was an error, and that I needed to run setup from the original CD. Fine.
When I ran setup from the CD, it tried to install some files onto the CD, announced its failure in an error message which did not provide any further advice, and which did not allow the user to select the appropriate drive. No place to go!
As a consolation prize, it dropped a link for setting up Internet Explorer 3.02 onto my desktop. Thanks a lot!
I've combined all this great fun in a composite image (attached).

I'd say that IE 3.02 was adding insult to injury …
