Load Letter?
I once spent a whole day in Italy trying to print an MS Word document I had brought with me from the U.S. The printer, an HP LaserJet, kept flashing the message, "PC Load Letter". We checked the printer in every imaginable way and printed several things from other programs. After hours and hours I realized that the printer was loaded with A4 size paper - the standard in Europe - and the printer was asking me to load Letter size paper, the paper size being stored with the document.

Typical – a message whose information and
relevance is directly proportionate to its length. Two decades ago, perhaps there
was some excuse for such brevity … but would anyone like to make book on
whether this will improve before the 3rd Millenium?
