An Imprecise Error
Here is one I dread in Microsoft Access (Every version I have worked with).
When a database is corrupted and you repair it, normally you get a success message, however if some of the file is beyond repair, you get the message.
There was a problem repairing your file. Some Data May Be Lost.
Particularly unsettling in a 200 Meg mission critical system.
"May" be lost? Is it lost or isn't it?
Assuming it is lost, perhaps a clue as to which of my 20+ tables each containing 10+ fields might be losing data. "Some Data" really doesn't help much. This message basically leaves me unsure if there is a problem with no idea where to look in case there might be!

Well, it’s certainly a good argument for having data backups … I know, not much consolation but that’s the way the database crumbles.
