Has Microsoft Gone Too Far?

When I went on-line to place a trade order with my stock broker (Waterhouse Securities), instead of reaching the expected log-on screen (see below) the bookmarked link took me straight to Microsoft’s WinNT 4.0 option pack …

My first impression, of course, was that a minor error had occurred … until I tried to reach Waterhouse a second time with the same results. Then a third attempt – typing the address in by hand … same location

Was this another instance of Redmond’s plans to rule the world? Should I call the FBI to complain? Or were my phone lines tapped as well?

Well, to make a long story short, I disconnected from my usual IP, then dialed in again through a different IP, this time completing the connection to Waterhouse without incident and placing my sell order.

But, still curious, after finishing my trade orders, I returned to the original IP and tried the link again … but, this time, the connection went through without a hitch. Was it a momentary glitch in a router table? Just a curious coincidence that the routing error connected to the Big One And Only? Or is this a sinister hint of things to come?
